Acnetame is a dietary supplement featuring vitamin A, Niacin, Biotin, Panthothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5), Selenium, Chromium, N-acetyl Cysteine (NAC), CoQ-10, and Bioperine. These are all good vitamins to take for general health.
Vitamin A: In one study comparing acne treatment with zinc along and zinc with Vitamin A, no differences were noted between the group that received vitamin A along and the group that got combination treatment with Vitamin A and zinc. Another study noted efficacy in doses at around 50,000-100,000 IU which is more than the 2,500 IU dose found in Acnetame.
Niacin: Niacin is a form of Vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 deficiency causes a disease called pellagra. Symptoms include diarrhea, inflamed skin, dementia, and sores in the mouth.
Biotin: biotin is known to be helpful for hair, skin, and nail health as it is involved in important metabolic pathways such as the creation of glucose (gluconeogenesis), the creation of fats, and amino acid breakdown.
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5) is required to make coenzyme A and to synthesize and metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats. B-5 deficiency is rare. Major sources of it are fortified cereals, mushrooms, liver, egg yolks, and sunflower seeds. Observations made on victims of starvation and volunteers have found that deficiency causes irritability, fatigue, and apathy. Other symptoms include disorders of the nervous, gastrointestinal, immune systems as well as poor hair growth and skin lesions.
Selenium is a an essential micronutrient. Deficiency is rare and can occur in patients with severely compromised intestines, those who are receiving total paraenteral (IV feeding) nutrition, and those with advanced age (over 90).
Chromium is a trace mineral which supports blood sugar.
N-acetyl-cysteine is used for acetaminophen poisoning and to treat cystic fibrosis.
CoQ-10 is a coenzyme also known as ubiquinone and is ubiquitous or found everywhere. It is found in cells and is used to generate energy.
Bioperine is an extract of black pepper used to enhance absorption of fat-soluble nutrients.
