What is Murad Pure Skin?

Murad Pure Skin is a dietary supplement featuring Vitamin A, Vitamin B-1, Vitamin B-2,  Vitamin B-3, Vitamin B-5, Vitamin B-6, Biotin, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Glucosamine, L-lysine, L-Glycine, L-proline, ALA, and Selenium. These are all good vitamins to take for general health as well as hair skin and nail health.

It also contains the herbal ingredients silica, grape seed extract, Lecithin, EFA, Burdock Root, Yellowdock Powder, Chromium Pomegranate, Origanox, Aloe Very, CoQ 10.

Vitamin A and its derivatives are used for the treatment of severe, cystic and nodular acne.

Vitamin B-1 or thiamin is essential for neurological health. Deficiency causes symptoms such as beriberi.

Vitamin B-2 or riboflavin deficiency results in irritation of the mouth, especially the corners, and chapped lips.

Niacin is a form of Vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 deficiency causes a disease called pellagra. Symptoms include diarrhea, inflamed skin, dementia, and sores in the mouth.

Pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5) is required to make coenzyme A and to synthesize and metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats. B-5 deficiency is rare. Major sources of it are fortified cereals, mushrooms, liver, egg yolks, and sunflower seeds. Observations made on victims of starvation and volunteers have found that deficiency causes irritability, fatigue, and apathy. Other symptoms include disorders of the nervous, gastrointestinal, immune systems as well as poor hair growth and skin lesions.

Vitamin B-6 deficiency causes irritation and redness around the mouth, atrophic glossitis (red glossy tongue), irritation around the mouth, conjunctivitis (redness of the eyes), intertrigo (irritation of the skin folds), sideroblastic anemia and neurologic symptoms such as sleepiness, confusion, and neuropathy.

Biotin: biotin is known to be helpful for hair, skin, and nail health as it is involved in important metabolic pathways such as the creation of glucose (gluconeogenesis), the creation of fats, and amino acid breakdown.

Vitamin C is important for connective tissue synthesis and strengthening the skin.

Folate is essential for cellular growth. Its deficiency causes anemia. Deficiency in pregnant women can lead to neural tube defects of the baby.

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin known to have antioxidant characteristics.

Calcium is known for its bone health supporting characteristics.

Magnesium is essential for cellular signaling and metabolism. It can also help support heart and mental health.

Glucosamine sulfate is typically used by those with joint discomfort.

The amino acids l-lysine, l-glycine, l-proline are all support protein synthesis.

Silica supports hair growth.

Grape seed extract is an antioxidant and supports circulation.

Selenium is a an essential micronutrient. Deficiency is rare and can occur in patients with severely compromised intestines, those who are receiving total paraenteral (IV feeding) nutrition, and those with advanced age (over 90).

Lecithin is a component of cellular membranes. Deficiency is rare.

EFA is short for Essential Fatty Acids which can include omega-3s which lower inflammation.

Burdock root has anti-inflammatory effects and has benefits for blood sugar. According to one uncontrolled study it is helpful for acne.

Yellow dock root is another herb with anti-inflammatory effects.

Chromium is helpful for glucose metabolism and blood sugar. It is commonly taken by diabetics.

Pomegranate is a powerful antioxidant because of its intense colors that can absorb free radical damage.

Origanox is the proprietary name for Origanum Vulgare and Melissa Officinalis which are herbs with antioxidant characteristics.

Aloe vera is known for its soothing characteristics. In large amounts, it is also used as a laxative.

Antioxidants help reduce inflammation and irritation.

CoQ-10 is a coenzyme also known as ubiquinone and is ubiquitous or found everywhere. It is found in cells and is used to generate energy.

Anti-Microbial Acne is attributed to Propronibacterium acnes bacteria. Murad Pure Skin does not have any anti-microbial activity
Probiotics Probiotics are beneficial microorganisms that reside in the gut. They have numerous benefits including lowering systemic inflammation. Supplementation with Lactobacillus probiotics was found to make a clinical improvement in patients suffering from acne. Murad Pure Skin does not have any probiotics.
Hormonal Support Some have argued that the main cause of acne are hormones. In particular, androgens which cause an increase in sebum production. Some prescription drugs for acne have an antiandrogen effect. Murad Pure Skin has burdock root and chromium which may support blood sugar levels.
Skin Cleanser Cleansing your skin is an important part of skin care. Dirt can clog pores and lead to the development of acne lesions. Murad Pure Skin does not have a face wash.
Skin moisturizer After cleaning your face you should use a non-comedogenic moisturizer. Murad Pure Skin does not have a moisturizer.
No Retinoids but does contain Vitamin A Retinoid Retinoids are Vitamin A derivatives which have been proven to help heal acne lesions by unclogging follicles. Retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A. Murad Pure Skin has vitamin A but no vitamin A derivatives.
